Employee Affinity Group Marketing

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I've been tasked to come up with a marketing plan to increase membership in my company's affinity groups (African-American, Woman Leadership, Gay/Lesbian, etc.). Does anyone have any examples of best practices in this area?

Thanks!

Why is this different than any other marketing plan? I'd start by defining the value proposition, creating a positioning statement, then going through each element in the marketing mix to see which apply and what the strategies ought to be.

I've been involved in several of these "non-traditional" marketing situations, where the product is membership or cause-related. It's remarkable how the "normal" marketing planning elements apply.

Try it, and you'll see what I mean. There's nothing that special or different about selling membership than selling toothpaste. Good marketing principles apply in both -- and they are exactly the same principles.
