Letter From Marketing Manager To Client

Hi, I have recently been appointed a sales and marketing manager and am looking at drafting an email out to all companies in hope of starting up my client databse. I need to inform them that I would be the point of contact if they need any of my companies services and at the same time what i can offer to them. Something along those lines...

    I'm not entirely sure what you're asking. Are you trying to introduce yourself to your company's existing clients? Or, are you trying to get new customers by sending out an email to people who don't have any relationship with your company?


    Can you explain?

    That's a good idea. It doesn't need to be long. Tell them who you are, your mission and ask for their business.

    Include a deep link to your website and ask them to sign up for monthly or quarterly updates.

    Dear kameel_g,

    Whoever you're writing to, make your message about your recipient, NOT about you. Your role is to make sure customers get what they need, not to tell them about you.

    So, write to those people's COMPULSIONS and NOT at your preferences. Use short sentences and short paragraphs and keep the overall view on what you can do for them, not the other way around.

    Make your letter easy to read and people will reward you with their time—something that goes a long way to creating a lasting relationship.

    Then, call each person on your list, just to find out more about them. This is NOT a sales call! This is a friendly "Hi, just wanted to introduce myself and ask if you have any questions" call. get to know your customers and make it your business to REMEMBER little things they tell you: the names of their kids or significant other, where they go on vacation, what they did for fun the last time you saw them or spoke to them.

    Little things? Perhaps. But they make a HUGE difference and they strengthen the bond.

    Follow your e-mail up with something in the mail, or with a phone call. Just to confirm what's what and that you're dealing with the person you thought you were dealing with and be sure to PERSONALLY correct any mistakes in your list.

    I agree with everything that Gary has put in his reply.

    I had a client recently who has just started a new business. He has a list of people who he has not met but would be interested in his services. His approach is to phone everyone in the list and introduce himself and then ask if he can send them more information by email.

    He started phoning 10 potentials a day but has had to stop as he has picked up three clients in the first week. I have told him to keep making the calls to maintain the momentum.
