Help With Name!

Posted by Anonymous on 50 Points
Hi. I'm opening an accessory boutique in a small touristy town and am stuck between two... Envy, which after I looked through your site, found another gal who chose that one, and Posh.

I really like Posh... Our sign would say
Posh
an accessory boutique

but my husband says people will think of pish posh!

Any help would be great! Thanks

"Posh" as a word has been around much longer than the expression "pish posh!" so more people will recognise the inteded meaning.

Just a thought - could you use both words - "Posh Envy" to create something more unique than just "Posh"? Posh Envy would be defined as something so smart and fashionable you absolutely have to have it, right now.

You don't say in which country this touristy town is situated but I would imagine in most Western countries the word Posh is going to evoke images of David Beckham's other half in a younger audience, while in the 45-50+ segment it will evoke a a perception of something that is "upper class" - which is apparently the true origin of the word.

The tagline works fine and explains well what people will find inside your shop.

    Best of luck with it!

Why not walk around and ask tourists who are likely to be your target audience what THEY think? Also, why not "Posh Accessories" instead of simply "Posh"?

    Thanks for the ideas.
I don't really think I want to combine, I'm trying to go with a more hip one word vibe. Easy to say and remember...

    Hi,
Try this apps for Iphone, https://www.thebrandgenerator.com its a real professional tool to generate (intelligent) brand names.
For exemple, you put your key concept in the field (Maybe POSH), and after you select which kind of positioning you want to have for your brand . For you, maybe LUXURY positioning can be OK or TRENDY, or FUN) . Or try others. (there is 22 positioning in pro version)
The apps will generate semantic items added to key concept, wich express the positioning you choosed.
So it's provide you a list of ORIGINAL names, linked with your business et what is the positioning of it.
This apps is the same as used by the Brand Naming Agencies ! It is developed by a 20 years experienced prof in naming.
