Topic: Taglines/Names

Tagline Slogan Required

I make great sandwiches but not slogans and taglines! Free butties for any inspirational advice!

Company name: Butties2Go

Ethos: I have a weak stomach which means if I won’t eat it, I won’t sell it. To that end, I use only local premium products: free range organic eggs, daily baked bread from local baker and all meats are premium. My philosophy is to make great premium butties without charging the earth - my customers are very price conscientious. We have never done any advertising before and have relied on word of mouth.
I hope you can help me create a great tagline, so I can concentrate on making butties!

Eee, by gum, a "buttie" is a Northern English term for a sandwich!

Tagline: "Eat up, if you know what's good for you!"

Lots of luck with your venture.

Why does it take an Australian to tell the rest of MarketingProfs that a Buttie or even a Butty is a sandwich?!

Actually, they are strictly speaking sandwiches with attitude – such as Bacon Butties and Chip Butties (The US term French-Fry Butties just doesn’t work!) Likewise you are unlikely to come across Smoked Salmon and Avocado Butties – they would be sandwiches.

If only there had been an Earl of Butty as well as an Earl of Sandwich, this could be resolved by an etymological dictionary. As it is, I have to assume that you are being true to the spirit of Butties as we know them in the North of England.

If you want to address a market further south than Manchester, then “Sandwiches with Attitude” will convey the message. If you are addressing anything around the M62, M61 and M56, then something like “Butties, Mined in the North for Northerners” will have the same cachet as “Irn’ Bru – Made from Girders in Scotland”
