Hugo Boss Pestel

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hey Guys,

I have to do a pestel analysis on hugo boss and after hours of googling I've given up. I have absolutely no idea how to go about this. All i know is what pestel is but i'm unable to apply it as I cant seem to collect any data whatsoever. Could somebody point me in the right direction please.

This is hugo boss from a uk perspective. Do I start with the current tax on imports as 90% of apparel is imported? How theres a general 12% tax on clothing and a further 15% vat which is supposed to be bumped up to 17.5 in Jan 2010 posing problems for the company in times of recession? I'm an international student here and I cant seem to figure out the implications political instability (if there is any to begin with) or labor union laws may have.. There are also hardly any trade restrictions as the EU seems to have lifted them all so no barriers to trade. How exactly do i go about this

Economic side I got a bit of info from wikinvest about how their dealing currency is the Euro which caused a problem by it remaining strong and so less euro's against other currencies yada yada.

social ? technological!? I cant seem to dig up anything on their competitors either other than that their main competitors are burberry, ralph lauren, armani and gucci?

management isnt my background so i'm in a fix here.

any help at all with the pestel would be highly appreciated.

thanks

Ideas to look at and analyse from Hugo Boss perspective

    POLITICAL:
general labour/environmental laws within UK (compared to abroad - Asia etc)
    Political environment, stability etc
    Tax policies

    ECONOMIC:
Economic growth (Effects of recession etc)
Interest rates (impact on customers etc)
Exchange rates (effect on imports/exports, deliveries/production)

    SOCIAL:
Health/fashion consciousness of consumers (affect on demand etc)
    Fashion trends in the industry/U.K

    TECHNOLOGICAL:
Impact new technologies could/will have (mass production/ need for mass production?)
    Innovation by designers (internally/externally/competitors)

Many of these points can be considered from Hugo Boss perspective without the need for much detail about the company.

    Hope this helps

    Dear Hellzie,

Socially and technologically, how do their competitors Burberry, Ralph Lauren, Armani, and Gucci use social media, video, product placement, websites, cell phone advertising, and positioning?

Politically, how do the companies listed above react, move, sway, and influence buyers, customers, leads, prospects, and emerging markets?

Economically, what does the ability to afford, to be able to buy or the wear Boss say to other people? What impressions, perceptions, wants needs, desires and pictures does its use or possession create or imply?

These thoughts ought to spark others. Think literally and laterally.

    I hope this helps.
