Word of mouth is always best. Start with https://www.yelp.co.uk
Have people who love your taxi service yelp about the wonderful experience, price, cleanliness, etc.

Definitely want to make yourself known to the DMCs. Flyers work well there...unless you want to go with DVDs which can be very cheap too.

This assumes you're looking to land the international traveler.

If you are targeting people who live in London, local newspapers, yellow pages, etc. can all work.

If you are targeting people who are traveling to London, you can work with the tourist magazines given out at hotels which provide information on places to see and tours. Place an ad in one of these magazines.

If you are targeting business people, placing an ad in the local business magazines/newspapers could be good.

Of course, work at meeting, or better yet, exceeding people's expectations, so that you get the good word of mouth (as mentioned above).

Consider brief, one-page, brightly colored (match your taxi?) and deliver stacks to all hotels, Convention & Business Departments in your city (if you have them), office towers (esp. to larger businesses who use air travel), and of course, travel agencies (if any still exist). Maybe to hospitals' business &/or communications' offices (for doctors who may travel in/out). Don't forget colleges, universities, too. Plus, post them on every community bulletin board that exists in your city. That should help get some attention!

Print up plenty of business card size discount cards. 10% off

Make sure your drivers are distributing them everywhere.

Each alighting passenger should have at least 1 or 2 ready for their next trip.

    Give plenty to

    Hotel Concierge's
Club - doormen bouncers - managers
    Residential condominium doormen.

Don't waste money on flyers, people loose them and they all end up in the trash.

Make them, bsuiness card size so travellers will slip them in the wallet.

Make sure that the conatct NUMBERS are clearly and prominently displayed on teh card and make sure that it is clear that they have a 10% discount.

Make sure that when a passenger claims the 10% that they write their

    First name
    last name
email address on the back of the card in teh spaces you have printed there.

make sure that you also 'tag' all cards when handing them out so that you know that they cames from the 'savoy hotel, the london bridge hotel etc.

THis way, you can monitor where is the most valuable place to keep pushing more and more of these cards.

In addition, make sure that you log all the passenger detail into your CRM - Contact manager software and build your database.

Soon you can start shooting emails to thema nd develop a relationship online.

THey can pre book their next cab ride via internet before they fly in :))

Work those cards all day everyday, I guarantee that they are the most effective and cost efficient way to win new bsuinesss and retain loyal passengers.

    Good luck,

    Matthew

    Dear Alex

You are losing marketing good-will by not closing out your question! I can add one further avenue - just after they became a serious player, I did the CRM system for Computer-Cabs as it was then known.

Marketing via a CRM system has proven to be their most reliable generator of repeat business and through the use of business lists, new business.

You are smaller, but it should work for you - CRM is often 100% saleable in results. They had 2000 cars and 200,000 client records, but it should work right down to 2 cars and 200 records.

    Best wishes
