Looking For Entry Level Ad Position

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I am in Michigan and cannot find many positions in advertising. I have worked for a Marketing Research firm for a year and a half and was bored with the statistics and lack of client interaction.

I have a marketing background and have 8 years of sales and management experience in retail and telecommunications.

Media Planning and Buying interests me, as well as being an account executive. But I cannot say for sure because I have never held a position like these.

Could someone maybe guide me to what I might be more suited for?

I have had difficulty finding any employment so far so any help is appreciated.

Step number one is to add your email address to your profile. If the right person were to view your post, they would be able to send you an email.

    good luck,

    Dear kholderjr,

Carrying on from Steve's point, step 2 is completing your
profile here, then step 3 is to set up a www.LinkedIn.com profile,
    a www.twitter.com profile, and a www.facebook.com profile.

Post nothing on these sites that is not directly linked to your career goals, aspirations, and experience.

Then, start a free blog at www.tumblr.com and network your but
off. Offer insightful input to authority-based blogs, write and submit articles to your own blog and link to those articles from Twitter and Facebook. This will help get you known and recognized as an authority and when you do this frequently and consistently enough you'll begin to stand out.

Be you. Don't try to be anyone but yourself and you'll begin to attract people who seek YOU out for YOUR opinion. This takes time, but stick at it. Do not give up.

The next thing you know you'll BE the "go to" person, or, at the very least, you'll be more attractive to a potential employer BECAUSE you've done all this where less determined candidates might have done nothing to make themselves worthy or remarking on.

I also urge you to buy and read a copy of Gary Vaynerchuk's book CRUSH IT! https://bit.ly/CrushItByGaryVaynerchuk

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
