Actually there are many engineers, with a whole range of specialties, who have earned MBAs and entered brand management and marketing positions. And many of them have been extremely successful BECAUSE OF their engineering backgrounds.

Instead of thinking about a Masters Degree in Marketing, consider an MBA or an MSIA degree.

Thank you so much for your advice.
I would like to know one thing as you are suggesting getting MBA rather than masters.

I looked at courses and Masters seem to be more focused and specific on the subjects. MBA would be a bit generic I feel. Yes, It would help in understanding other prospects of business.

So that being the case is it that marketing oriented masters lack in some imp way? or it doesn't hold that much value in market??
Or it is just that MBA provides better launchpad than Masters?

Pls share your point of view on this......

I agree. A masters in a business discipline and a undergrad in engineering can be a powerful combination. And an MBA, which provides a more broad business education, may also be better than a master in marketing. Yes, you want to know a lot about marketing, but it is very beneficial to also have a good background in accounting, finance, management, etc.

Many MBA programs allow you to concentrate in a field - you can go for one where you get an MBA with a concentration in marketing. This way you will get plenty of marketing courses, but till also get a good background in other business functions.
