Consulting Company Looking For Software Ideas

Hi, I am launching a company in March 2010 for Marketing communications. I was hoping to find some software ideas that are cost effective and cover MRM and other organizational type tasks. It's a small business based out of my home for now so cost need to be low but effectiveness and functionality are needed to be high. Thanks for your help in advance.

    Dear Trisha,

    What exactly do you mean by software ideas?

    Are you looking for products to use? Are you looking for products to sell? Are you looking for products to rebrand and sell as your own? Or are you looking for ideas to create software packages to serve marketing resource management?

    The more detail you can give the better.

    I find most needs for small businesses can be handled by the Office suite or comparable (like OpenOffice, for a free version). Creative use of spreadsheets and documents covers most needs.

    Calendars and similar can be handled by other off the shelf products. I use the stuff that comes with my Palm phone, but others use Google Calendars.

    Wile you are just starting your business, you may just go well with very simple solutions like Excel. Some other suggestions here like Open Office products, may work too, just make sure you know that you really need those programs.
