If you're simply doing creating a website that looks like the myriad of others websites selling cosmetics online, no.

If you're selling something special to a specific group of people, perhaps.

    Dear Info,

The trick with selling to any niche online is to go narrow and deep. The narrower and the deeper the better.

This means the whole notion of offering the wares of various companies is out because you'll be competing with too many other discount cosmetics outlets that all look the same and many of which have a wider share of an already skinny market than you do.

In order to compete in this kind of market the only thing you'll have going for you is price, which, if you discount it too much, you'll find yourself selling at a loss.

Now, this sounds fine until the bill falls due. Believe me, if YOU'LL be selling at a loss, the other (LONGER ESTABLISHED) players will be able to sell at an even greater loss for a longer period without it making too much of an impact on their bottom line while you file for bankruptcy.

There needs to be solid reason for you to be in business. If you look just like every other cosmetics outlet you'll blend in and vanish.

In order for you to make an impact there must be some strong, compelling reason for people to buy from you. If you don't have a reason you need to find one.

I hope this helps. Good luck to you.

Of course it's a good idea! Million others have been doing it for many years now. The question is - will anyone notice you behind monsters like Sephora?
