Best List Append Service Company

Posted by Norwood on 125 Points
We are a B2B software company in the US and have historically sold to IT (IT managers, CIOs, etc.) and are now trying to reach to other decision makers (CFO, AP Manager, Controller, etc.). We're thinking about simply doing an append to the companies in our database so we can get those extra contacts for the companies we already have. Data would include name, title, phone, email...

What has been your experience with data append services and is there a reputable company or companies in the US you would recommend?

I've seen multiple offers from companies that promise too much to be true and want to avoid falling into a scam.

Your thoughts are appreciated!

The service you're looking for is what we call as Multiple-contact append. There are quite a few companies that do this but as you mentioned you have to be cautious about vendors' contact identification methods i.e. are they appending contacts via harvesting, public directories, etc. or is it through a reliable source such as business/trade publications, trade shows, in-house database etc.

What is being promised to you by the other companies? Maybe some of us here could help validate this. Alternatively, I can help recommend a few vendors that my clients have used and seen the results to be quite positive.

    Best regards,

    Nate,

I haven't contacted by phone any vendor directly as I wanted first to know which ones are the best.

I did get several emails from multiple companies that promise append name, title, phone, email, company revenue, number of employees, etc. but I find strange when the email address in the "from" line doesn't match the name of the company in the email (if a name is used at all) and when emails from supposedly different companies have very similar content (almost word by word).

I know some scammers use multiple company names to sell their lists and so I try to research them beforehand, but in some cases there's not much info out there.

If you know of some reputable companies, I'd appreciate if you could share them with me.

    Thanks!

Your right about that. A lot of these companies, you're talking about use the assistance of Lead Generation companies to generate leads. These Lead Generation companies use mirror sites and fake prospecting id's to generate leads. Your decision about being cautious is definitely the right one.

If you can help me with your contact details, I'll have some of these guys contact you. I'd suggest sending me an email about this at [Email address deleted by staff]

Nate, I'd rather have you post some company names here in the forum so that other people can benefit from this information as well.

I'm now in touch with Dun & Bradstreet to discuss their appending services. They are well known in the industry and unless there are others out there with similar reputation, I'd rather go with the less risky company.
