Rmit Or Deakin For Master Of Marketing

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello,

I am about to being my Master of Marketing - I need advice chosing between Deakin and RMIT.

Things I like about Deakin's course:
- two years part time
- you can study "online marketing" in the first year (area I want to specialise in)
- online delivery available (this might suit my lifestyle more)

RMIT:
takes three years to complete (quite a long time)
cant study online marking until third year
not delivered online so may have a better reputation?

Please advise! How is each uni veiwed? Any experiences?

Thanks,

    Thanks,

I am close to the city, so could easily go to rmit on campus. If i were to study at Deaking I would do distance. My only worry is that the assessments are mostly essays at deakin. RMIT seems to have more practical components, however I think that being that you need to attend class on top of homework, I am assuming the time commitment would be greater at RMIT than Deakin.

    What are your thoughts..

    Dear sadar2,

Both courses are great. Simplest way to make a choice?
    Toss a coin.

Do a best of three if you have to, but the more you sit around fretting about it, the less time you'll have the more pressure you will feel.

Make a decision and live with it. Then, get on with having a successful career and life.

While online schools are gaining in prestige, they do not yet meet the level of brick and mortar schools. There is still a sense in the minds of many who do the hiring that online is not as rigorous in selection of students, in delivery of content, or in the grading. Online courses even at brick and mortar schools should be only a small part (or none) of your classes for the best chance of being hired by someone who does not otherwise know you.

I have hired a lot of people as the head of a department and I would be more likely to hire you if you had few to no online courses.

    I suggest RMIT.
