Romance And E-commerce

There are so many online (pardon the euphenism)romance shopping sites (i.e. lingerie, dvd's etc.). I'm researching wether these sites fare better than general merchandise and other "non" romance specialty stores? In other words, is this where the money is in e-commerce?

Lingerie could be measured in the ladies apparel category. Are you referring the to online porn industry? Most porn revenue today is for subscriptions and downloads as technology has obviated the need to purchase a DVD. The stats on this are staggering, Forrester Research estimated it to be $1 billion in 1998. More recent estimates have been as high as $12 billion.

Thanks for your responses. I guess I should have been more direct. Well, here it is: I have friends who are selling various products online. One does jewelry, another sells coffee mugs, another dvd's, another gift items, and the last one is an affliate with a lingere/adult item store. I don't really discuss their finances, but they all keep doing what they're doing, so they must be profiting from these ventures. However, I do know that the one who sells jewelry wholesale quit her job four months ago, hired a home cleaning service for her new home, has taken two vacations, and told me she could buy a car with cold cash if she wanted to. She also started investing in penny stocks but quit after a couple of months. Just trying to figure out which one is making the most money so I can get in on the action. Just being honest!
