Email Blast- How To Check For Spam Issues

Posted by KathyAd on 50 Points
Hi. Does anyone know of software or a service I can use to check my email blasts before deploying them, to see if they will get caught in a spam filter? For example, I know that words like "free" in the subject line are not good, but I would love to have something scan my email before it deploys, and then tell me of other potential issues. And of course, if you know of a FREE service or web site, even better! I am sure there are tools out there... Thank you!!

    Kathy,
Another easy way to check...depending on who you're trageting...is to set up your own AOL, HOTMAIL, GMAIL, YAHOO etc addresses and send it to yourself.

One customer of mine is so cheap they use bcc instead of a good program. (I just write the content) AOL and some of the others detect the bcc field and label it as spam.

We use ExactTarget at work. Paid service and very comprehensive email management suite. It includes a "Content Detective" feature which allows you to scan every email for potential spam red flags.

Good idea. Of course, it all starts with a good opt-in list. There are so many different SPAM blocking vendors and methods that you will always lose a certain percentage. Many email management systems provide this (e.g. Lyris). For free, you could try the following:
