Much depends on where you want to go with your career. What are your goals?

An MBA will provide beer business background, so if heading into a pharma or similar company's management is one of your goals, then it could be very useful. But if instead you want to go more seriously into a lab and do more R&D, then the MBA may not be useful.

The 8 years experience shouldn't be used as a negative, but may not be a positive if you are looking to get out of pharma or similar industries.

your experience will not be deemed as a negative point ever. experience worth more than academic studies.
Regarding MBA, your decision would be very benifitial to you, you would be able to run the department of R&D for example. In MBA you will get knowledge about every single aspect in business & it will give you the ability to be the head of a division or maybe a company depending on how you improve yourself during your study.
Being an MBA student at EBS, i would like to inform you that MBA should be accompanied by work experience, your benifit would double.
I hope I gave you the support you need.
