Pet Sitting Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hello I have been pet sitting for about 10 years and I am rebranding my business. My company is TLC House & Pet Sitting Service, LLC. Currently our tagline is An Alternative to Boarding which was ok 10 years ago when pet sitting was new. I am looking for a new tagline that will appeal to a more affluent, ensure that they can trust us and we are going to spoil their pets. We take care of all types of pets, but mostly cats and dogs. I want something short and simple to use in advertising and pitches at networking events. In a lot of my letters to client we use we will spoil your pets as it you never left, but it is too long to use as a tagline. Any suggestions

I don't understand what is wrong with the current tagline. Is it possible that YOU are tired of it, but that it could still be appropriate for your target audience?

Also, you might consider making reference to the geographic area you serve in the tagline, either with a city name or a well-known local landmark, region nickname, etc. (Example: Elm City's Alternative to Boarding)

Thank you for your feedback. I guess I don't know how to use tagline. It has never worked for me. I always say we will spoil your pets as if you never left. I wanted to find a new one I can use for printing on business cards, new website, T-shirts and use in a sentence at a networking group for a pitch.
No well-know landmark in my area that I would use. I provide service to the East Valley in the Phoenix metro area (Paradise Valley, Scottsdale, Tempe, Chandler, Gilbert and Mesa).

No well known landmark? How about Camelback!

As for your tagline, don't overestimate what it can do for you. Instead of trying to be clever or cutsie, just make the benefit crystal clear. "An alternative to boarding" reminds people of the guilt they feel when they take their pets to a kennel and gives them an alternative to that. Not such a bad thing!

The "... as if you never left" line doesn't do it for me as well as the no-guilt approach ... "Your pet doesn't have to go to a strange place and wonder why you've abandoned it (you heartless, selfish owner) ..."

I think the guilt-trip (an alternative to boarding) is a much better way to get to the emotional payoff than "as if you never left."

You've already heard great advice from the Masters.

The only thing I can add, as a pet owner who travels (2 dogs and 2 cats), is that I really don't want my pets spoiled by anyone. I just want them cared for and given the love and kindness they need.

Spoiling a child is bad - how is spoling a pet good?
I would switch the spoil part to caring or loving.

    Best of luck, JohnnyB

Thank you all for your feedback. I guess you can say Camelback is a landmark, but I don’t provide service near it at all. I only use An Alternative to Boarding is in my signature and some printing. I am using spoiling in letters when clients go away and make a reservation. I don’t use it in a way they feel we have spoiled their pets so they have a problem child, sorry for the confusion. It was mean we would spoil them just as the client would so when they returned home the pets didn’t even know mom and dad were gone. I am just trying to find a new tagline that I could use at networking events and new pitches for advertising on website and shirts. I could just change one word to “your alternative to boarding”.

The tagline needs to focus on the benefit to the owner.

    e.g.

TLC House & Pet Sitting Service, LLC
In the comfort and security of your own home

Have fun! We've got your pets covered.
Don't your pets deserve a vacation, too?

Again, thank you for your wonderful feedback. I like in the comfort and security of your home, but you made me realize maybe my tagline is not so bad. I just needed a fresh look at things. I never liked the word spoil your pets either, but I think I can make an easy change in our letters to “treat” your pets as if you never left instead of “spoil”. I went back through my old business plan and realized I use the word spoil and An Alternative to Boarding. Here are some new ways I can use them. What do you think?
TLC’s services are designed to maintain your natural home environment and we’ll “treat” your pet(s) as if you have never left.
TLC has been caring for all types of pets in Arizona since 2001 as the best “ The Alternative to Boarding”.
I thought I could use in networking. Doesn’t your pet deserve “The Alternative to Boarding?”

Great discussion. Here;s another take. Improvise on the established tagline, and add on the selling pitch that you've always had.

No to Boarding. Yes to Spoiling.

That;s what I want my doggie to have, I don't want her to go to a kennel when I travel, and if someone out there to do that to the level of spoiling her, I'm all game.

    Another improvisation would be:

No More Boarding. Just More Spoiling.
