Email Marketing Advice - Is This Consultant Legit

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi there,

Recently I've noticed a flurry of tweets about my friend/ex-colleague The Email Marketing Bear. I'm very happy that he is working again .... but I wanted to know, would you trust him with any other than your email marketing? I'd love to know how you judge his influence in the email marketing world.

Here is his website https://bearinbar.tumblr.com

I am deep in the field and have never heard of it, but I do love bears if that helps. :)

The site looks interesting, but mostly dedicated to self promotion, and 80 followers on Twitter is less than my daughter has.

I have found MarketingProfs to be the single best source of info about email marketing. Their membership is well worth the price. Marketing Sherpa also has great data and statistics on the subject.

Wishing you and your friend the best of Luck, JohnnyB.

I've been in email marketing for 11+ years, and I've never heard of this fella. Heck, I don't even think he reveals his name, does he?

Maybe it's cute, I don't know...but there has to be some substance here, eventually.

Not to sound rude, but I'm sure I would trust him with email marketing. Why would anyone? I am not even sure what he does or who he does it for of if he's any good at it.

    Just sayin'....

Not based on this website. There's no contact information. He doesn't have his own domain. There's no substance on the website at all that tells me about his approach, past clients, niche, etc.

No domain, likely no self branded domain email addy either. May as well be using a gmail or hotmail email address. If this guy can't demonstrate a fundamental understanding of branding as well as basic knowledge of online tools, HECK NO, I'm not too likely to trust him with my email markeitng campaigns either.

Time to do for oneself that thou claimst to do for others, I'd say.

Sorry, the web site simply doesn't tell me, sell me or convince me this guy is capable of anything. And, the father and rabbi testimonials don't do anything for me at all.
