What's your ideal job? Working for whom? Where? Doing what each day? Targeting what demographic? Corporation or small company? Pay scale? "Green" business?

Narrow down your search based on what YOU want to do. Then research those companies for opportunities that you find interesting, and target your application accordingly. Also, consider informational interviews to learn more about what the company culture is really like.

You really need to research what's available in the market you are trying to break in to. There are thousands of possibilites out there and sales is just one tiny fraction of the marketing positions. However, in a bad economy, there are going to be many scammers trying to make a quick buck off of you and unfortunately marketing is one of the easiest career fields to trick people. Take it from me, don't trust Craig's List, I would say 99% of those listings are from companies looking to get freshly graduated students into their "door to door" sales positions.

Just be careful out there and take everything with a grain of salt. Also, don't be too picky, you need to start some where and you can always work your way up! Good luck.
