Help With Children's Product Name And Tagline

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have been designing and manufacturing jewelry for the last 21 years. I 'm planning to launch a line of children's bracelets. My product is goint to be high end and consist of sterling silver initial beads and sterling components and Swarovski Austrian crystal. I plan to personalize the product by buyer's color choice, name and size depending on age of child.
The line will not be exclusive to babies and children but initially children are the target.
There are several other companies selling similar upscale bracelets. The price range is from $35. to $60. and some also personalize their products. My bracelets will be better because IMHO I am a master jeweler designing and producing fashion jewelry of a higher quality and better designs.
I need help with the name and tagline. SAnd I also need help to understand the best way to market both online and retail.
In advance , I want to thank you for helping me with this problem. Please ask me any additional questi9ons you might need to give advice.

    Hi Julie,

Actually one of my best friends designs jewelry from home and she too just launched a kid's line. This is the strategy she uses:

    1. ebay
    2. website
    3. at-home parties. kind of like the tupperware parties of old. These are coming back in style.
    4. sponsorship and events--she sponsors local events for kids and donates some items. She's also thinking of doing a jewelry launch event and co-market with a local children's store.
    5. gift packs--she has started to do some gift idea bags for newborns. She actually puts the whole gift together depending on what the customer orders. And the gift tag is engraved sterling silver.
    6. local specialty stores. She hasn't yet gone the mass distribution route
    7. Each bracelet or necklace doesn't have a model number. Rather she uses a child's name for each one. It's usually inspired by that child. Kind of like what Brad Pitt did with Damiani. That child "designs" the piece and it is then baptised with her name. Cute idea for birthday parties or baby showers.

As for a name . . . I'm Italian and I love Italian names for luxury items. You can search the web by using "gioiello" or "gioielli bambini" to see if any other names jump out at you. Here's a nice site https://www.voguegioiello.net

Here's a link to Sicilian gold tradeshows (just in case you need an excuse to come to Italy in November!)

Off the top of my head:

    Hi JulieG,

Q: does “initial beads” mean each bead has an initial on it to spell out words?

Q: Seems like the personalization aspect could get costly as you grow the business – have you run the numbers on your costs verses the price points set by competitors?

Regarding name, I was thinking along the lines of “circle of life”, for example –

    Circle of Charms
    Circles of Shine
    Julie’s Circlettes

(I’ll think on the name some more)

Regarding online and retail, online opportunities include yahoo stores, eBay, and branded online catalogs such as Neiman Marcus Christmas catalog (Probably a difficult expensive get)

For retail I would think specialty such as Gap for Kids.

Regarding BIG PR, getting photography of a celebrity with their child wearing one of your bracelets or ???

    Competitor names?

    Little Miss Jewelry

    Things Remembered

    I’ll follow this thread,

    Julie,

Perhaps you could start (and maintain) a long-term relationship with your customers by taking a birth-to-whenever approach to your bracelets. The buyer who purchases an item for a newborn can purchase "extensions" to the bracelet every year. It could start a neat tradition in some families! Maybe you could feature different types of beads or charms for certain years, too.

That said, biz names could be along these lines:

    Birthshine
    Birthday Bangles
    Lovelong Treasure

If I think of anything else, I'll post again.
