Msc Thesis On Viral Marketing: Case Of Slumdog Mil

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hi! I'm struggling to write my Master thesis on Viral Marketing! My initial idea was to test how consumer responses to viral messages differ because of their cultural differences (how Indians react differently than Norwegians). Then my advisor told me it's too big a project! Now I'm trying to make it simple by studying one case (Slumdog Millionaire) and analyzing the consumer comments that are on online forums/facebook/youtube. I'm supposed to study why Indians have different reactions than in Norway. But in the end, I'm completely confused if this can be called a VM thesis or will it just be a ethnography study. Would you recommend any other ways to complete this thesis?

Study what marketing efforts were done in each of the countries and then compare the results (online activity, ticket sales, and rentals) ideally by age/region.

Hi Jay, thanks for your response. I like your idea! But i really wanted to focus on viral marketing and seems the movie didn't have that much of VM!
Thus, as of yesterday I came up with another plan to not take the case of Slumdog Millionaire. Now I'm planning to focus on successful viral campaigns in India and content-analyze to see what works in India!
I'm hoping to get enough campaigns to analyze now!

After much research and consultation with my advisor, I've decided to study Viral Marketing in India as a market. I hope I can do some content analysis of ads from India and get some good conclusions regarding depiction of culture in those viral ads.
