Purchased List

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hi,
We are a small company that have been using purchased lists for our email marketing. We provide the option for our website visitors to opt-in to our email mailing list, but we have less than 20 people opt-in to our mailing list. Most of our list is purchased and a small percentage of the purchased list has become our clients. I understand that permission-based list are more effective than purchased list, but we simply don't have enough of those other than our current clients. We are trying to reach out to new clients by emails and our current email marketing supplier won't allow us to use our purchased list anymore. What do you suggest we do? Is there a supplier that will allow clients to use purchased list as long as the opt-out language is clear?

Your help is highly appreciated!

I would suggest that you don't purchase email lists. It is really important to harvest new names organically and while it may be more labor intensive I assure you that the quality of the list will be so much better. I am sure I won't be the only person to tell you this (and you probably already knew this) but I bet if you offered a little more insight into your actual business you might be able to score some tips on how you can grow your list without purchasing using good old-fashioned guerilla tactics as well as new-fangled social media tools. Good luck.

Thank you RBKTTB for your comment! Most of our emails are either about a special promotion or free webinars for people to come learn about our software.
We do not know how we can generate permission-based emails from non-customers. We are a software company that provides online event registration services. Please feel free to check out our website at www.gobigevent.com. Perhaps I can post the webinar registration link on our website and during the registration process, I will ask them if they would like to receive future emails from us.

I would seek a list rental company that will email your email to their permission-based list. For example, since your product is event registration, I would search for email list providers that rep of companies that service the event / conference industry. Their companies might be event planner magazines, or hotel service magazines.

You provide the email to the list broker, and if the magazine approves your email, the magazine emails it to their database and charges you. Definitely more expensive, but it targets your desired customer base in a permission-based fashion.
