I Need Advise On Changing Careers

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have been a child care center director for 20 years with the same company. I am now wanting to change careers and feel "lost" on how to go about doing this. My problem is that I don't know what I would rather do and/or am qualified to do. I do not have a degree, but a child care management certificate. I have a lot of experience in child care, office-type work, general business and all that goes with running a small business. Can anyone help? There are so many careers to choose from that I feel overwhelmed!

My initial thought was sales, and I still think that is an option. You know how a center thinks so selling a product that child care centers use would be easy.

However, most salespeople do not have administrative strength, you do. There are several career assesment companies out there like careerdirectonline.org. I used that several years ago and it was helpful.

You may learn that you're just burned out and need a vacation. That happens in a down economy. Just be sure that is not the issue.

Yes,the truth is that there is a lot of disappointment around now with the depression.
But the fact is that any career you choose, your success is the only thing that is in YOUR hands.Either it is sales or something else, people tend to go with the people they trust.
My advice is to find something that you like.Learning is easy, don't go looking for something you already know.Try something let's say crazy(?)..
And always you can look for a work from home type business that makes you your own boss. All around us we see that the old system of old fashioned careers is falling apart.
it is time for a new start not only for you,but for everyone.
Be happy with whatever you choose!
