Advice In Vent Management

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
This is more for advice than anything and I hope people can give me there opinions. I'm an event executive an have just worked 94hours in the last 7days! I will still only get paid for a normal week of 37.5 hrs. I will get 16hours back as time owed but will have still worked 40 hours practically free of charge. When speaking to my managing director I was basically told that it is the nature of the job but to me the amount of hours I have worked in such a short space of time seems beyond the nature of the job- what do you think?

Thanks

What choices do you have? If you don't like the work, look elsewhere. If you like the work, but not the hours, you need to ensure that management understands your availability prior to scheduling your services. Instead of complaining during the crunch time, have a productive meeting post-crunch with your manager. Explain your needs and find ways to take care of your company's.

My guess is that you are not being paid by the hour, but for your commitment to making the business work successfully -- regardless of how many hours that requires.

Stop watching the clock and counting hours ... or find another, hourly job. There are a lot of out-of-work executives who only wish they had your problem.

    Count your blessings.
