Giving Website A Head Start

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I have read somewhere about this and would like to know if I understood the information correctly or if the information is correctly written. Enable for a newly created website to have a head start in the internet scene, one way is to submit the URL to a browser like IE or Firefox. Did I get that right? And how can I do that? To those who are experts about website traffic techniques, please tell me if I got the correct information. Thanks.

No... You would not need to "submit" your site to a browser. Is there something you're trying to accomplish with this question?

    Hope this helps,

A browser is software that resides on a computer and allows people to visit websites. You're probably thinking of a web directory/submission service, where you send your URL to a central service to let them tell other search engines about your website. Some of these services are free, and in almost all cases, it's not necessary these days.

Some people prefer to let the search engines find them. I prefer to submit to them. The steps you should take are:

Get you site as perfect as you can. No Typos, no broken links, no spelling errors.

Google the term "site map" and get instructions on building a site map and put it on your site.

Make sure your sites meta tags are good. Google "meta tags" for info.

Go to https://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl and submit your site.

DO NOT use any of the automated web site submit services. This can cost you in how the search engines rate you.

Go to sites that are complimentary to yours and ask them for a link to your site. A one way link (one to you without one back to them) ranks over 100X the value of having links both ways. Try offering this month I will link to you and next month you link to me.

Add new content to your site frequently. Google likes fresh content.
