Promoting In Forums

I am a member of quite a few number of forums. I like exchanging ideas and comments with fellow forum posters. I was thinking of utilizing these forums. How can forums help in promoting a website? How can it be utilized to its maximum?

    Depends on what the forums are and what you do (and how they relate).

    One option would be to have a blog, have white papers on your web site or similar which answer frequently asked questions. Whenever such a question shows up on the forum, you can post a link to the URL containing the answer (along with a brief description of what is in the link and why the person who posted the question should read it).

    The key is to read the guidelines. Many forums don't allow you to post a direct link.

    If your truly website answers a problem other people in the forum are requesting help for, you have a natural opportunity. Otherwise, it's selling to people who may not be interested.
