What Do I Charge To Design A Bikini For A Mktg Co?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
The owner of a Marketing Co. needs a bikini design for a local nightlife magazine in Southern California. He wants me to design it and come up with a price for my services. The design part was simple, now I have to present it with a reasonable price, and since it is just and idea, I don't know where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.

The design part is only simple if you know what you're doing. If it were really simple, the owner of the marketing company would have done it himself. So for starters, don't devalue what you've done.

Next, don't tell him you've done it until you have agreed on your fee. What's the value to him of what you are prepared to deliver? How much is he charging HIS client, and how much of that hinges on having a great design for the bikini?

Obviously you can't charge him on an hourly basis for all the hours you've spent learning what you need to know to design a bikini, but don't give away your talents too cheaply.

I can't really give you a number of what to charge, but I can encourage you to come up with a fee that reflects the VALUE (to him) of what you've done, and not to base it on how much time you spent specifically on his project or how easy YOU thought it was.

My guess at the range for a fair fee: $750-1,250. But then I have never even thought about designing a bikini. It could be double or triple that amount and I wouldn't be shocked.
