Facebook Video: Upload Or Link To Youtube?

Posted by allysonrobison on 125 Points
When looking to post video content on Facebook, is it better to upload the video directly to Facebook and YouTube separately or upload the video to YouTube and post the link on Facebook?

Each seems to have it's pros and cons but I was wondering if anyone had any specific thoughts on the topic.

Thanks!

    Dear allysonrobison,

Search engine visibility wise, it's better to load the video to YouTube, then link the video to Facebook.

It's also wise to include a link on the Youtube page in the description section to a site you want to drive traffic to.

    I hope this helps.

A big plus to uploading the video to Facebook is to use the FB tagging feature. Your tagged uploaded video(s) will appear automagically in other people's walls & video sections.

For my free video content, I upload to youtube, post to my blog, write a nice descriptive excerpt and include a nice jpg/png screenshot of a key frame from the video. Then, when you see my FB update, with link to my blog, you get a synopsis of the video-drives traffic to the blog for more engagement.
