Better? For some products and markets it's better and for some it isn't. And in conjunction with each other they can often both be better.

    What is e-marketing ??

As far as I know, there is just marketing.

There are many channels to market.

    Print Media,
    Ourdoor media
    Broadcast media
    online media
direct mail (includes snail and electronic)
WOM - can be in person or online via social networks
In store promotions - can be on or offline
    Special Events
    Sponsorship
    and and and...

    The list goes on.

Pick the channel(s) that work best to reach your specific target audience and available budget.

    END OF STORY.

    Good luck,

    Matthew

Sometimes clubbing over the head works best, but that's more of a "push" strategy;)

Seriously, everyone here is right. "Better" is not the right word, as e-marketing should be a channel of an overall strategy. Unless "better" means "I have no money and can only choose one channel to market with"...
Maybe you're using emarketing to mean an email campaign? If your overall marketing program is severely under funded and you can't afford to spend on advertising (digital or traditional), adwords, or developing additional content (case studies, white papers, articles), then email campaigns are going to have the biggest reach for the least amount of spend. Success, however, depends on automation, a good database, and a good message. If you're in the aforementioned boat, you probably have time to spend on message testing, so use it.

I think everyone has jumped on Josephine a little. Josephine, I am not sure if you are a student, or just new to marketing?

At my company, we made a significant shift from traditional marekting (ie. direct mail, trade shows, etc.) to online marketing several years ago. For us, the primary benefit has been "being able to do more with less." Budgets have been cut significantly over the years, and we cannot afford to drop large direct mailings like we used to. For us, it's lower cost to spread that money out over various email campaigns and such.

The seconary benefit is that, for us, online marketing has proven to be better for lead generation, perhaps because prospects are at their computers and simply need to click. In other words, we convert more people into leads with online marketing than traditional marketing. Someone reading an email from my company is more likely to click a link and fill out a form, whereas a person at a trade show or reading a direct mail piece has to do more than just click a button. That is just my two cents.
