Yoga Pilates Certificatio Courses

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Hi we would like to know if there is any regulation as far as creating certification courses for Pilates and yoga studios? We are in business for 8 years, and would like to implement a certification course. What do we need to do? Do we née the approval of any institution? I can find that answer anywhere... Please any help will be greatly appreciated

You're asking about a legal question, and we're not lawyers. Read the Pilates Trademark Case Judgement (https://www.pilates.com/resources/aboutpilates/pilates-decision.pdf) with the help of a lawyer to better understand the trademark issue for a planned certification.

Write your course, call your method whatever name you want, why not KatiaPilates and voila...

Existing names, just a few..Peak Pilates, Stott Pilates, Practical Pilates (an AFAA course by the way)...

As you can read on https://www.answers.com/topic/pilates, '...a US federal court ruled the term “Pilates” generic and free for unrestricted use.'
