How To Find/pick Sites To Market A Niche Event?

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I have a client that has a surf/skate shop. They hold a number of related events weekly and monthly. All the events are geared towards the that hobbie market.

How do I find the best websites to market the event to? Is it a matter of just spending hours on google and posting to each site possible? I would think there would be a better way to research by stats or traffic, for my market, to submit the events. I'm familiar with Alexa traffic system.

Just want to find the most efficient way of getting the word out about niche services as I get a new client or surf shop.

For example, if I have a Skate Competition coming up and need to get the word out fast, where can I go to get a list of the best places to promote the event or company?

Hope this makes sense.

Easiest way to get the word out would be to query your current customers to see what surf/skate sites they use.

And don't forget to capture email addresses from the customers, and then reasonably use this (such as by sending a weekly email with updates, but not more than this). Use a mailing program, such as Constant Contact, that handles the unsubscribing and other formalities for you.

Focus on regional (online) calendars - your local newspaper, Craigslist, and hobby clubs.
