Interview Questions For New Event Coordinator

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Hello,

I have an interview for a new venue this Wednesday. The position is for Event Coordinator. I am confident I am qualified for this position.

My questions are,
-Should I wear a suit? I would like to look professional but not stuffy. I am trying to think what an Event Coordinator should look like.

-Is there anything specific I should bring besides my resume, references, paper, questions?

-What is the correct answer when asked what is "expected salary"? The position states $47-$51,000

Thank you for you answers!

Absolutely wear a suit, and I'd mix it up and get rid of the stuffiness with some interesting/fun accessories. Show that you're professional, but also fun and creative -that's what I'd want my event coordinator to be. I don't think you can go wrong wearing a suit - they will NEVER criticize you for being overdressed, only underdressed.

Have you planned events before? It might be helpful to bring photos, promos, etc. for those to give them some examples. If not, just come with a lot of great questions, there's nothing worse than getting to the end of the interview and finding that the interview-ee has NO questions for me. SERIOUSLY? :)

One I alwasy ask when I am being interviewed (because everyone loves to talk about themselves) is how your interviewer got started in the industry and in the company. It can often start some good further conversation and give you some good insight into them.

If the position states $47-$51, I would tell them that you're aware of the salary range, and are comfortable within that range. It won't be time to really nail down a salary until after the interview - then you can push to be at the high end of that range.
