Hiring Objections

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
I've moved to a new state and city and looking at marketing positions, which I excel in and have a Masters degree to back up my work experience.
Objection I'm receiving is that I have not been in the area long enough (3 months), to cold call on local businesses. Austin, TX is not that LARGE a city?! I've traveled the world...Any advise on how to overcome the objections?

People move all the time, so the objection you're hearing isn't likely for the reasons you think. Instead of cold-calling, focus on a company or two that you'd like to work with and find out as much about them and their marketing as possible. Do informational interviews. Read their white papers. And start a dialogue with people inside the company (by phone, email, facebook, Linked In, etc.) to better position yourself.

And, if you might want to read The Potato Chip Difference (https://www.potatochipdifference.com/).

    Thanks!
Jay, I think your right there's more to it than just being new to the area.
I'll just keep plugging away, I'm sure that the right position will eventually be found.
