It To Mba To Sales

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
Hello people..
I am pursuing MBA in marketing and operations. Before that I had a work ex of 2.5 years in IT company. But was never comfortable in technologies,so decided to to MBA.Now I got placed in a consumer durable company in sales profile with comparatively less package. But I took this decision looking at the future growth of this profile. On the other hand I could have got a very good package in an IT company with a techno-consultant profile.I dont know whether my decision is good or not looking at the age factor too because in sales job could be pretty hectic in first one or two years. And also my IT work ex seems to be a waste. But frankly I never wanted to go back in IT.Guys please help to clear my mind by comparing the two career paths although I have chosen one :)..please reply..

Stop looking back. Stop looking sideways. Start looking forward. What do you want to do? What excites you? Who is doing something that you'd love to be part of? What can leverage your unique skills in a way that will help you achieve your goals?

Jay's questions and advice are exactly right. You're airing your should-a/could-a/would-a list, not thinking of how you're going to move forward. You can't undo the decisions you've made. You can only make decisions that will affect the future.

So figure out where you'd like to be in 3 or 4 or 5 years. Then develop your plan to get there. Weigh every decision based on the goal.

And let go of the past. It's over. Done. Finished. If your IT life is over, let it be over.
