Creating Staff Excitement About A Blog

Posted by Amanda Kaiser on 125 Points
We're considering launching a staff authored blog for members and potential members of our professional association. If this project moves forward we'll select 6+ staff members to author the blog which will give the readers a good diversity of subject matter of much sought after content.

How would you energize the staff authors? Our staff is already stretched thin so how would you create buy-in?

Can you leverage the blog content for multiple purposes? If so, then buy in will be easier (do something once, get many benefits) and ideally would save staff time.

Also, consider having someone who's "peppy" do a video blog (you can always transcribe it as well) to break up the volume of printed articles you're planning to create.

Mike - thanks and I agree. Not only will we get leader involvement a few of our members are frequent contributors to articles, etc. so they could be great guest bloggers.

Jay - yes and thanks - we currently have a group on LinkedIn and a Twitter presence but, have a hard time populating it with interesting content, a blog could help. Like the idea of video. Thanks!

Mike, Jay and Karen - thanks so much for your answers.

If anyone else has any thoughts on how to rally the staff around this new assignment, I'd love to know.

    Thanks!
