Opening A New Sportsbar/lounge...need A Name

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I'm opening a new Sportsbar/Lounge in NW Indiana. The address is 2350 Cline Ave. Material list is exposed brick/dark hardwood/stained concrete floors. A oneword name would be nice. I've heard Barfly and Barcode, but they dont do much for me. I love the name Gaslight (bar in Chicago). Something about the retro name appeals to me. Any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Hi,

The name should reflect the attitude or rather service of your business. before deciding on the name, i would recommend you to list down the type of services you are planning to give, type of customers you are planning to target what all you will serve in your BAR.

The name of your business should do the marketing for your business. Most companies whoes names are alligned with their marketing strategy are able to attract more customer with less money compared to other who don't.

I hope this will help you.

Tell us about your target audience. Who are the people who are most likely to patronize your bar? What's important to them? How old are they? Male/female? Where do they go today? Why will they want to try your bar instead of going back to their current favorite?

I have some special affinity for this request, as I grew up in "Da Region" (as locals in Lake County call it) and still have family living just a few miles from your location!

    How about simply: "Bar None"?

It will attract a 30+ crowd during the day as the sportsbar theme is reinforced through ESPN on the TVs and such. After say 9Pm a younger crowd would fill in for the lounge/nightclub atmosphere. Owners would have a word of mouth following based on existing ties to the bar industry in NW Indiana. It will serve food via a small menu. Nothing fancy, but good quality. Trying to get away from the "shot and beer" reputation of other places.

If you're counting on word-of-mouth and your reputation, then it might be a good idea to have your name somewhere in the name of the sportsbar.

    [Charlie's] Box Seat
    [TommyJ's] Cheering Section
    [Mickey's] Gallery
    etc.

If the name/reputation is part of why people might find out about your place, you might as well flaunt it and take full advantage of it.

If that's not comfortable, then something that connects to a local theme might work ... using the name Cline or Harbor along with "Sports."
