SEO is a great idea, but even when done right it usually takes a long time to get page-one ranking ... for the reason KSA notes.

So first decide what your real objective is. WHY do you want page-one ranking? What's it worth to you? What's the economic value? What you'll probably find is that there are faster and less expensive ways to accomplish the objective than committing to a long-term SEO process.

Besides, most people really want higher conversion -- profitable sales. So you might be better off focusing on generating traffic and conversion.

Just remember that there isn't any free lunch. You'll have to pay for worthwhile results. That's why it's important to define your objective carefully and calculate what it's worth to achieve that objective. Otherwise you are likely to pay more than it's worth -- or make yourself crazy trying to achieve an objective that's impossible to reach on a limited budget.

    Thanks for replys~

Search engine submission also include submiting to directories? In my mind, this is included in submiting into search engine.

My current website are not submited to any search engine, but my clients still can find my web. So what will be different if I using SES service, submitting my web to seach engine and directories? I guess it's the same ..

    Thanks

    Hi pfeng5

Search Engine Marketing {SEM} includes SEO+SES.
The best way to gain a competitive position on first page of Google is through link building.
This market is very competitive and tough, and depending on the keywords that you wish to rank for it can take a long time.

To begin with, I suggest you ensure your site is optimised [SEO].

    1. Title: [html code]: Clear description of what you do as a business and ensure that the main keyword is mentioned at least once
    EG_ key word dog training
Puppyskool is a San Diego based dog training business that specialises in dog training and blah.

    2. Keywords [html code]
Have the list of relevant keywords you wish to rank for
dog training, dog training San Diego

It is also very important that you have proper headings [h1 and h2] with the keyword and at least 500 words of text on the home page with the keyword on it. Please do not overload. Try 1 keyword per every 100 words

Internal links will also help you to optimise your site and regularly add new content with the keywords in it, perhaps have articles on your site

All this is SEO and depending on your keyword that you wish to rank for and level of competition, this could be enough to get you to rank.

Find out what people type in to find your site, as you mentioned some do, and try to increase your rank for that keyword.

This might seem all very confusing to you, but before you hire a SEM company make sure that you have some basic understanding about it. There are lots of free SEM reports on the Net.

    Thanks mate.

Now I''m more clear about SEM. Another is that what if my I already have a website that doesn''t been optimized? That is, the website page looking is good but only the code in the backstagy is not suitable for SEO, could I still keep the web page but optimize the website?
Will my website get the same ranking as the SEO-friendly website?
