Use Of Registered Trademarks In Product Names

Posted by ckenny on 50 Points
Hi,
I'm wondering what the rules/regs are for marking Trademarks next to product names in marketing documents and emails. We represent a number of companies and often list them in emails. Do they all need to have the R or TM next to the product or company name???

It is my understanding that in the USA, and with regard to logos and company names, the following rules apply: You may NOT use the ® icon if a company name is NOT a registered trade mark. However, if a company name is NOT registered you CAN use the ™ icon.

If you are based in the USA, read more here: https://www.uspto.gov/

To Gary. Thanks for the information. I am based in the US. I've called the USPTO and they said that they don't define use of marks... Could you tell me where you found some of the defined info?
    Thank you!

One way around listing all trademark owners is to put at the bottom: 'All other trademarks are the property of their respective owners.'
