Plwse Help Me Choose One Of Two Jobs...

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
Its that time when I have to pick one job over the other and you obsess about making the wrong choice after it's done.

Both jobs are in Florida, one is a Graphic Design Job at a Cosmetic procedure company, the other is a Marketing Manager job at a security software company. The marketing job pays 20k more and the benefits are much better, but I got the offer after I accepted the Graphic Design job, where I like the people a lot. I am trying to test the other job and they are very persistent in wanting me to join, plus their argument on the nature is the company is convincing. I can learn more and grow fast.

My big problem is that I feel guilty pulling out of a job after they so graciously offered it to me. Please give me some good advice on what direction to take and how I can retract an acceptance in the most respectful way, should that be the right choice.

You have to go with your guy as to which is the job you would prefer and what level of keeping to your word (accepting the cosmetic procedure company's job) you want. Not likely you will be burning bridges by going to one or the other, so won't likely have an impact on your future. But it could have an impact on your internal moral well being, so base it on this.

Thanks for that response. I am all about the surroundings and the people. Other than who I interviewed with, I really don''t know much about either. I did interview with 8 people at the security company which half were phone interviews and liked 7 of them. The last one encouraged me to accept. I only interview with one at the cosmetic place and he was cool, but I heard his boss is crazy. I did test project for both jobs and they both were really impressed.

Any more advice based on that info?

I had this situation when I got out of college. I went with the one that I accepted....figuring my word was worth something.

Difference was 6K...but that was in 1980.
