Interview Questions For Content Marketer

Posted by Anonymous on 250 Points
I am preparing to interview candidates for a newly-created Content Manager role in my Marketing department. This person would essentially be the Chief Content Officer, responsible for developing and executing a content strategy for online, social and offline channels.

Any recommendations on some must-ask interview questions?

Thanks!

I'd ask some open-ended questions and listen for examples of their thought leadership (or leadership in general) and their willingness to take initiative to solve problems and/or make things happen.

Open-ended questions can be things like, "What was your proudest moment, and why?" or "What did you particularly like about your last job?" It doesn't matter what the actual question is; it's just so you can get the candidates talking about their past performance, interests, skills, and thinking style.

What you want to know is how the person solves problems, thinks through issues, and then takes initiative based on their own analysis and convictions.

Ask about their 90-day plan. What will they do? What will they study? Who will they meet with? What information would they need? How will they decide on their priorities? Success? Downside? What are the assumptions that everyone makes about their role/responsibility that isn't true? What skills do they have in changing directions based on results and/or resources and/or priorities?
