Importance-satisfaction Matrix For 4scale

Posted by Anonymous on 25 Points
Dear experts,

I really need to know this. I'm using importance-satisfaction matrix to knowing program(service) effectiveness. The X-axis is importance and Y-axis is satisfaction.
Since i used 4 scale (and all is positives), where do i have to put the dividing line (to make the quadrants)?
*most research usually use 5scale,so the dividing line is right in the middle (on 3)

Thank you so much..

I'm not sure exactly what you are trying to accomplish, but if you start with zero you have 5 numbers and 2 is the center if you start with 1 you have 4 numbers and 2.5 would be the center of the 4 numbers. Grab a piece graph paper and write 1, 2, 3, 4 at the major interctions where is the middle?

So if you start with zero put the dividing line at 2. If you start with 1 put it at 2.5.

    I hope that helps,

    thanks andy for your response.
I'm sorry if my question is not clear. I'm trying to put the dividing line so that i have 4 quadrants between X-Y axis. On 5 point scale, the dividing line is in the middle(on 3).

i'm trying to find out, where's the dividing line's point from?
is it just put the line in the middle, from mediant point, or how?

yes its start from zero. Like letter "L" the zero in the corner.
Did you mean that use mediant point as dividing line?
