It sounds like there isn't much you need to know about the topic. Why not pick a specific category and look at what, if anything, the major competitors in that category are doing by way of mobile marketing, and how successful they are with it?

You really don't have a burning question, so the dissertation is kind of pointless, right? What do you want to do when you get out of school? Maybe focus on the industry or company where you'd like to work. That way you'd at least be getting involved in an area that interests you.
