Go-to-market Or Just Standardization Of Processes?

Posted by lasse.sorensens on 250 Points
Student project for an IT-corporation with several offices around the country. So the main issue is that the firm has no strategy and/or no standardization of processes of new products/services/solutions that occur through the corporation. They want processes for how to make it possible to share new innovations and other solutions internally for use in the B2B market. The question is how should I attack this project? What should I focus on? Thank you

Start by defining what success would look like for the company. Then work backwards.

Also - ensure you understand the "temperament" of the executive leadership. There may be a strong reason for the way things are, and a reluctance to change. Once you better understand their needs/decision-making, you can best suggest innovative strategies that fit their "model".

Apart from the other suggestions, I would suggest thinking of ways of disseminating this information in the circle of companies.

The problem you have is of dislocation (a very common problem in modern industry/business - the one hand doesn't know there is another hand scenario). Nobody has been told to join the dots, so they don't know they need to let alone think about it - or even act.

My suggestion would be to have a newsletter that is distributed among the companies. Anybody can send in suggestions, anybody can read them. Plus there is general info from higher-ups (yawn) and interesting articles from the student hounds (sorry, that should read newsletter journalists).

Making sure your approach to this is interesting will mean you get readers and involvement. What's more it doesn't require the current management to do anything at all. Which in my experience of them is precisely where they want to be.

    Hope this helps. M
