I want to ask something in return that may clarify your question a little. In what context are we talking here?

After all, agriculture is now an industry. A farmer is a business with limited liability and all the rest of the legal stuff.

You could rightly say that an agribusiness is a farm - selling stuff to other farmers. Farms have had to become specialized in the way modern industry has in order to survive. After all there are farms that are producing eggs for the baking industry and farms that produce eggs for the supermarkets and farms that produce eggs to grow into chicks to sell to the first two groups! Each of these is an agribusiness. So is the feed producer selling its feed with the required colourings and additives to each of the three farms in question - and each will have different requirements for their feed additives.

The marketing end of things is how each of the two agribusinesses communicate with those they sell to. That is to say the feed merchant and the chick supplier. They are both agribusinesses selling to businesses in agriculture.

Does this make it any clearer? Just think of all the things a modern farmer needs - machinery, electricity, fertilizers, feeds, fuels, specialized accountants, specialist computer software for the animal's passports, gps equipment for the machinery, specialist labour suppliers, vetinary skills - to mention but a few.
