Why is Product considered to be the most important marketing mix element?

    Because it's a waste of money to do any marketing if the product isn't right. Great marketing starts with great product. If the product disappoints, all the money spent on [other] marketing is wasted.

    Consumers are very smart.

    We have a planet full of human beings. There are billions of us. In other words, there's a lot of people who make choices. Now this is a little subtle - only there are products that nobody thinks are any good, and there are products that some people think are any good.

    Whilst the product is important, as important is the customer who needs it. Marketing makes the bridge between the two. Too many businesses sell products as if they were a god's gift. That's when they can come a real cropper.
