What Does A Channel Marketer Do?

Posted by Anonymous on 125 Points
I've been coming across the title "Channel Marketer" quite often. It's not specific to media companies either, as I've seen a Channel Marketing for various companies and even an local university. Is this a relatively new job title and, what exactly does this position entail? Are they marketing using a specific "channel" ie: Media? Thanks for any info you can provide!

It is confusing. There is (distribution) channel marketing (retail, direct etc.) and there are direct marketing (media) channels which include, email, mobile, telemarketing, broadcast faxing, direct mail and the like. Of course, there is much more to be said. Just google it, there are many articles on this subject.

You need to speak with Randall (MONMARK). He's one of the top people in this field in North America.

Often a "channel marketer" will deal with specific distribution channels. For example, if you're selling bathroom fixtures (like tubs, etc.), you might sell through plumbing wholesalers, retail bath shops, plumbers, big box stores, specialty hardware stores, online, etc. Each of those would be a different channel, and each has its own needs from a marketing standpoint.

Channel marketing is basically a kind of marketing in which the products are being sold with specific method called a channel. The distribution of the product is done to dealers, either through direct sales, via phone calls, through direct mail, via the internet, or through a popular lucrative channel.
