Branding And Promotions Company Names

Posted by Pasha on 125 Points
Hi Everyone

I need your HELP please!
I am starting a new corporate branding company offering corporate uniforms, gifts, promotional items etc. I need to come up with a suitable name. I want it to be short and catchy.Something that's easy on the tongue and would stand out from the crowd.

Any ideas?

Many thanks!!

What will make your new company stand out from the crowd? Who specifically will you target? Why will they buy from you? Why should they "sit up and take notice"? Where in the world will these people be?

I am specifically targeting small to medium business and offer a personalised service. From catalogues to ideas sampling and design. I want to start small and grow my company over time.
Does it make a difference what letter of the alphabet your company name begins with in an ocean of similar companies??

Hi Rafique, and thanks for getting back to us.

If you are starting small, my suggestion is to start advertising online. It is effective and relatively inexpensive. That way you'll get a feel for the kind of people who like what you do.

As to names, the letters are usually irrelevant unless you're intending to use a lot of online directories. Better is to imagine the person who needs the things you sell - and when there are as many suppliers as there are already, focus is essential. Because they will find you when they put their questions in the Google search box - and you've asked their question (and posted an answer too!).

So: you are supplying a personalized service. Who precisely needs exactly what you give? I ask this because when it's personalized, it's focussed. Only you have to be able to see yourself from your customers' point of view. Howie Jacobson does a good job (https://askhowie.com) with his concept of an Avatar. This is an imaginary person that you construct from your knowledge of yourself and your business. There's an hours' webinar on his blog which will give you a good idea of how it all works.

It's not so much your personalized service - but how you personalize it. Specifying that (or trying to) will get you a few steps further with identifying your customers' needs of you.

Does this point you in a direction you'd hoped to go?

Thanks Moriarty, your comments are valuable indeed! I've started supplying motor dealers, lodges and B&B's with uniforms , corporate gifts and designed a logo. I am new to running a business and don't know what steps to take to make it viable going forward. I will certainly check out the link you suggested. I am trying to gather as much info as possible and then decide on what to do. I feel the name is important and would like it to influence the potential client to @ least browse my website.

Thanks Jay! I was thinking more along the lines of something punchy...I liked 1 Stop Branding but it is already taken. Even though I am targeting small business for now, i dont want the name to limit me to it.

People won't find your website because of your URL. They'll find it because you've asked the questions that are on their mind. That's when they'll find you, read what you have to offer and come back when they receive the newsletter they've signed up for!
