Tagline For Auto Dealership Focused On Location

Posted by Anonymous on 500 Points
Our dealership sells Chevy/GMC/Cadillac/Buick/Dodge/Jeep/Chrysler/Ram. We have a tough location. We wouldn't normally focus on location, however, were working with a new company that has asked that we provide them with a tagline to shine the light on location/convenience in south jersey.

Some thoughts:

( first line) TRUSTED for SAVINGS and SERVICE
( choice of 2nd line) MINUTES from RTS. 55, 40, 49, & 47
CONVENIENTLY LOCATED in the HEART of SOUTH JERSEY
CENTRALLY LOCATED between the DELAWARE RIVER and RT 55
NESTLED AMIDST EIGHT ACRES OF VEHICLES
FROM RTS 55, 40, 49 0r 47, DRIVE A LITTLE…YOU'RE ALMOST THERE
TWELVE MINUTES OR LESS from RTS. 55,40,47 or 49.

ROUTE 77, HISTORIC, BRIDGETON, N.J.

(more thoughts)
believe first line should show
what we can do for the shopper
in as few words as possible…eg

Eye catching inventory,
Money saving pricing.

We've been in business for over 40 years.

Any help is appreciated. Please let me know if you need more information.

Can you borrow a page from McDonald's (older) advertising, something like: 100,000 Cars Sold (or whatever the appropriate number is based on 40 years in business)?

Or another approach: "Only American Cars For South Jersey"

Many thanks but does not shine light on locale.
How do we do that with one or two line "tag".

    Good evening.

When you say "believe first line should show
what we can do for the shopper
in as few words as possible" - my take on this is that you know the answers to this. You've been in business for 40 years, and your customers come back because you're where you are and you're who you are. What you really need is to speak to them as your best customers and share the things they value.

If you don't know, just ask them! You've got enough, after all!

Personally I like "nestled in 8 acres of vehicles". It sort of says everything.

However you have asked for some other ideas. Eyecatching inventories and pricing don't really hit any buttons for me. The 8 acres did ;-). There's a difference - and it's important. The latter says something about your business that's actual and true - and it's also hard to beat.

Which is the angle I want to take for your tagline. Can you offer something qualitatively better by way of a guarantee that will say to someone thinking of buying a newer used car that you're their only sensible choice?

This sort of thing - three months free servicing (1200 miles or somesuch) [again stressing something tangible]
"if it's no good, bring it back." [not very good as it doesn't suggest your strengths - never mind that, this is a brainstorming exercise]
twenty thousand great cars to choose from [a little like your eight acres, which to be honest is far catchier!]

Look: does this get you anywhere? If not, why not - and I can change direction. I'm here to try and help you, not to twist these things to my own ends.

I question the premise that the tagline should focus on location. It should focus on the unique positioning benefit your customers should expect. If you do that very well customers will find you.
