Name For A Weight Loss Exercise Class

Posted by kirsty on 125 Points
Do you have any name ideas for my weight loss class?

It's aimed at women 35-55 years (UK) who want to lose weight but lack the confidence to step into a gym or exercise class as they feel the least fit and they can't keep up.

The word 'bootcamp' scares them. This class is specifically for beginners/getting back into exercise but with a weight loss eating plan.

I was thinking of having the weight loss part in a tag line and using the concept of beginner exercise/less extreme exercise in the name.

Any help greatly appreciated!! :-)

The gentle approach is an extremely powerful one - yet it's only powerful when it's done long term. This, by the way, is me thinking aloud. Getting it down on paper allows me to focus on what you're doing and who you're doing it for. That way the sun can break through the clouds of the imagination and a ray of light can form an idea that is useful and directed.

Now in one way, you're speaking to the failures. Those women who are put off by all the pictures of bikini clad lettuce-leaf eaters - and rare muscular creatures of less obvious gender. Yet they still need to be the kind of people who will pick themselves up by their own bootlaces, and need only a nudge to get them active. It's the catalyst you need here - and of course, that's what you're there for.

So how about - Kirstie's kinder diet
Kirstie's kinder exercise regime - take a walk to health with me

thinking more about the results, that is to say, a little more self-satisfaction*, enjoyment and quite simply feeling a little bouncier. Sleeping better, not shouting at the kids so much, a better sex life ??

    * I can't quite think of the right word here. Contentment is another angle of this, only contentment in being fitter.

Take the slow road to health. Wandered often you'll get fit.

Do you like this approach? What can you add, subtract, comment on?

    Thanks for your responses!

I like the idea of having 'steps' in the name but baby brings to mind kids fitness or mums. I want to steer away from 'fit' as my clients said they associate this with having to already be fit to be able to attend.

Yes I like the idea of a 'kinder' way to exercise but I initially read as Kinder the chocolate company.

Thinking about the results confidence is the biggest one in there - they become bouncier/boost/buzz in confidence. Their body shape changes. They have more vitality.

I need you to describe the kinds of changes they feel in more detail - and how they describe this to you. One or two will do. Because the sort of responses you've got are real gold dust for your kind of business.

I didn't think of the "Kinder" connection - (ik heb zo'n twee van ... kinder, that is - I speak one language at a time!). I'm glad you saw the idea though. It's the sort of approach that isn't going to scare them off, which was my point. You're right about the "fit" biz. The being more comfy in their body is a big improvement for someone, it doesn't need to be fantastic to feel fantastic. Now put that into words ... only it's late here and the hour has passed where my brain has turned to porridge. More in the morning.

I need the name to portray exactly what it is. No confusion about what it's about - it's weight loss and exercise for those that don't like bootcamps or the gym.

Here are a few testimonials of how they feel 4 weeks into the program...

"Before I started working with Kirsty I was feeling down about my weight. I had tried diets before and joined gyms but just got fed up and disappointed with the results. I lost 1 stone in my first 4 weeks and have since lost 28lbs. I'm now able to shop in 'normal clothes shops' rather than buying big frumpy clothes. I feel great, have more confidence in myself and feel really proud. This had really changed my life! "

"I didn't want to join a gym in case I didn't like it so thought I would give Kirsty's classes a try. It is a fun class and no one makes you feel bad if you can't do something straight away. There are different levels of difficulty for each move so it is nice to see week after week that you can do more and move up the difficulty levels. Sometimes it surprises me what I can now do. I feel much fitter and stronger than before and we all have a good laugh in the class which makes it really enjoyable. It is also nice to be able to do a class with my sister and mum where none of us feel out of our depth.”

“Before I started Kirsty’s clasess I felt fat, frumpy and like I was harbouring a lot of day to day stress. The process has been an arduous one but I've enjoyed every minute and the added benefit is that my stomachs gotten flatter and has been noticed as such by my friends and family. "

When I ask them about going to a gym or other fitness classes....

The reason they don't exercise at the moment is that they feel silly and embarrassed going to the gym or exercise class. Like they are in the wrong place as gyms are already full of fit people. They don't want somebody shouting at them to do more but instead be encouraged and challenge their own fitness level.

Those are fantastic, Kirstie. To be honest, they don't tell me anything I couldn't imagine - however just to have people say these things tells you that you're on the right track :-)

    how about -

Kirstie's fun fit club [it's that word again ... ]
Kirstie's steps to wellness club [boring]
Step with Kirstie. Wellness is getting there too.
find your own health with Kirstie
The quiet path to your health

I don't feel that I'm on the right track here.

Kirstie's comfy club. Have fun and let your wellness look after itself [sort of]
have fun and let your health improve by itself [better?]
    where you feel at home
    there's no I can't do it here.
progressive training that lets you do what you can
helping you to do what you can, not what you can't.
    where everybody joins in

Feedback please! I'm running around in circles.
