I Need To Tie My Company Name To My Tagline.

Posted by dbj6417 on 250 Points
My Company name is 100 Percent inc. We currently sell women apparel, affirmation tee shirts and lingerie made from tee shirt fabric. The name signifies that every woman is incorporated with everything they need to become what the desire in life. Don't need to try and be someone else. That's is why our tagline is ...Being you is enough!

But something is missing. I need to tie the tagline to the company name. I think I need to identify what 100 Percent inc is like COMFORTABLE APPAREL FOR TODAY'S WOMEN ... because being you is enough.

Everyone loves the product but I need help in my branding. ALL suggestions are appreciated.

The problem is that the name doesn't really communicate what you do, who the target audience is, or what benefit they can expect if they show an interest in the company. That means the tagline -- usually 5-7 words maximum -- has to do all of that by itself. It's unlikely you'll be able to pull that off.

The 10 words in your suggested tagline aren't bad, but they still don't really explain the unrelated name.

Well let's look at it from another point of view. Your stuff is comfy and it's sexy. What about the dreaded knickerline? Have you checked out that angle? Believe me, there is an entire market just for girls who don't want their knickers to show - or leave a mark for that matter.

I would also like to know what your customers are saying about your name ... and your tagline. Neither of which are focused on what you do, let alone on them. Branding is all about starting a dialogue between you and your customer. And most branding campaigns fail because they're speaking to themselves. Let alone speaking to anyone outside the boardroom - and that hasn't even got to the stage of knowing who their customers are.

That is essential if you are to have an effective branding campaign.

Now: everyone loves your product. What are they saying about it, why do they love it? Talk to them! Find out! You have the very thing you need, and you're doing it. More to the point is to find out what makes it special - and you need to find out what makes them pick it off the shelf.

I appreciate all of your comments. They are very enlightening. I am in the process of rebranding so I may have to change the name of the company.
The customers like the name once I explain what it means but I don't want to have to explain it each time. It needs to speak for itself especially being an online store. They really like the tagline "being you is enough" because it affirms that their uniqueness is ok.

Any suggestions on a new name and how I can tie it all together?

Also my product is affirmation tee shirts and lingerie made of tee shirt material. When the customer read the affirmation on the tee shirt and the message that comes packaged with it, it actually speaks to them and inspires, motivate or encourages them. They love the lingerie because it's comfortable and sexy. The old tee shirt is now sexy and comfortable lingerie.

Thanks for the feedback, it does clarify things immensely.

    How about

100 Percent just being you is enough
100 Percent: 100% you is enough
100 Percent: Just being you is enough to meet the day.

    can you see my drift?

100 Percent: be comfortable in yourself starts with what you put on first [it's a bit windy, but hey! I'm struggling - perhaps you can untangle it?]

    Does this help any?
