Catchy Tagline Needed For Dog General Store

Posted by kristinagoff on 250 Points
Howdy!

I need help with a tagline for an online pet store that is in the middle of branding. We will start as online and our plan is to eventually move to brick and mortar. The name of the business is Elwood's General Store and the overall feel we are going with is 1920-40's general store but for dogs and with a more modern flare. The products we will be specializing in are Made In USA, items from small mom and pop companies and all foods we will carry will be made with human grade produce/meats.

We want to support the small companies in the pet industry that are trying to make a difference in pets overall health and happiness and in doing so we've done the research for the customer so they wont need to worry about what they are giving to their dog.

We will cater to all levels of income, proving that providing your pet with healthy and natural products does not mean expensive and out of budget.

Thank you for your time and ideas!

Since your business name doesn't give a clue that it's for dogs, your tagline needs to make that clear, for example:

Only The Best For Your Dog
Naturally The Best For Your Dog
Old Time Values. Best Doggone Prices.

What does "Elwood" have to do with your positioning? Will your primary target audience understand what you do if all they see is the name? Are you expecting the tagline to do everything? If so, then what good is the name? Maybe it should become part of the tagline instead.

    Man's Best Friend
A General Store Just for Dogs

More importantly, how do you expect your target audience to find your website? Do you have a marketing plan? If not, that's the place to start.

    The Pet Store Next Door
The Kennel Next Door (not quite sure about that one)
A Pet store as your parents knew them.

For another name change option, how about .. "maw 'n paw mercantile"

Create a Unique Selling Proposition instead, which is much more likely to hook your prospects and communicate your unique competitive advantages.

EVERYONE talks about price. Don't be "me too". Differentiate yourself from your competition and you'll make more sales.

A good USP answers the question, "Why should I... your potential buyer... do business with you over every and any other option available to me... including doing nothing at all?"

And keep it oriented toward the benefits your customers receive as a result of working with you.

Examples: "Fresh, hot pizza delivered in 30 minutes or less... guaranteed." - Domino's Pizza
"When it positively, absolutely has to be there overnight." - Fedex

    Good luck!

Hi there, how about this as a suggestion:

"We care as much about them as you do"
